Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Custom Builder?
Munro Designed Homes (MDH) are Custom Builders. Our clients work directly with Chris Munro, our Managing Director, giving professional guidance through each process of the build. You can bring your own plans or work with us to design your own. The layout is designed to your site requirements and you are given personal choice over your fixtures and fittings. This ensures you achieve your dream home.
This contrasts with the experience of working with a volume builder. With a volume builder, you will talk to a salesperson and be given limited choices regarding plans, flexibility and inclusions.
How much will the build cost?
Consideration is given to the size of the project, the complexity of the design, what you would like as inclusions and the characteristics of your land. We will gather this information at our initial meeting to capture your vision for your new home. Working with your plans or one of our standard designs we will provide a budget estimate based on the information gathered.
Will I be given any assistance on colour selection or interior design?
Yes. Our Interior Designer will assist with recommendations and advice on colours and product selection. You can choose from one of our three lifestyle series or from your personal choices.
How will we know what is happening with our house during construction?
Our team will forward updates and photos throughout each stage of the build. Including scheduled site visits, where you can visualise the build.
Where do you build?
We build homes in Brisbane and the surrounding shires. Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast are also considered.
Can I alter existing plans?
Whether we are working with your plans or one of our plans, we are happy to discuss any changes. Once you agree on a final design, the drawings are completed in preparation for construction.
What is the build time of a new home?
A typical Low Set home will take approximately 16 weeks to build, and for a Double Story
How do you manage the quality of the build?
Strict quality control is achieved by our site supervisor, during construction and at the completion of every trade and construction stage. Chris Munro is also constantly overviewing the site. Any areas of concern are identified early and rectified. Clients are encouraged to point out any areas of concern throughout the build.
What are your warranty/guarantee periods?
Warranty on minor defects is six months. Structural Warranty is six and a half years.
